Ukraine beats off mass drone attack

On May 8 Russia launched 60 Iranian-made Shahed kamikaze drones on several cities in Ukraine. Ukraine said it shot down almost all the drones and casualties were minimal and only among civilians. Russia claims to have hit Ukrainian troops with its attack. This is the 4th attack in 8 days. Ukraine claimed to have destroyed 36 drones over Kyiv alone. Russian bombers also launched some missiles. Russia has also intensified shelling in Bakhmut. It appears that Russia would like to take the city by May 9, which is Victory Day for Russia. The Wagner Group commander threatened on May 5 to pull out of Bakhmut. He now seems to have changed his mind because he has been promised more ammunition.Â
