Ukraine claims to have shot down 6 hypersonic missiles

On May 17 Ukraine claimed it shot down Kinzhal missiles, which are Russia's latest. There was an overnight Russian missile attack on Kyiv. Russia also used conventional missiles, and Ukraine claimed to have shot down 12 ballistic missiles. Ukraine said that Russia also used Iranian Shahed drones. Ukraine claimed to have shot down 29 out of 30 missiles. There were minor Russian missile strikes on smaller Ukrainian cities. Even if Ukraine is exaggerating there is no doubt that Ukrainian air defenses have improved dramatically since 2022. Ukraine said 3 people were injured and no one was killed.  Russia claims to have destroyed a Ukrainian air defense system. This was the 9th Russian air raid on Kyiv this month. On May 17 a Chinese diplomat was in Kyiv to meet the Ukrainian Prime Minister. Ukraine discussed China's peace plan.
