Ukraine receives more military aid

On July 8 Zelensky visited Poland and met the prime minister. As usual this was announced in advance. The meeting was surprisingly low key. Zelensky has sometimes addressed the public when he visits Poland. On July 7 the British Defense Secretary visited Odessa, Ukraine. He is new in office because the Labor Party won an election on July 5. The UK Chief of Defense Staff was also there. The new government is keen to emphasize continuity with regard to supporting Ukraine. The UK announced a new aid package including 100 Brimstone missiles, artillery and 250,000 rounds of ammunition. London will speed up deliveries of assets already pledged. This includes 60 boats, 1600 strike and air defense missiles and 400 vehicles. On July 6 the Dutch Defense Chief and Foreign Minister visited Kyiv. The new Dutch Government is dominated by parties that are considered by some to be far right. It had been feared in Ukraine that the Netherlands would reduce military aid. Amsterdam is signaling that this is not the case. Export licenses for F16s being supplied by the Dutch to Ukraine were finalized on July 2. They will also give Patriot air defense missiles.
