Ukraine receives Patriot missile batteries

On April 19 Ukraine said it now has US-manufactured Patriot surface-to-air missile systems. Germany, the Netherlands and the US have also given Patriots to Ukraine. Each battery costs about USD 1.1 billion, with each missile costing USD 4 million. They can shoot down incoming missiles and planes. It is perhaps the best air defense system in the world. The US Defense Department leaks said that Ukraine was critically short of air defense missiles and would run out in May 2023. However, that document was from early March 2023. There has been ample time to supply more missiles. Ukraine also received light armored fighting vehicles from France. These are the AMX 10 RC. Other NATO countries have criticized France for giving so little. France has about the same population and GDP as the UK but gives only 20% of the military equipment that the UK donates to Ukraine.
