Ukraine struggles with coronavirus

On April 3 Ukraine announced that coronavirus cases rose 138 in one day. The total is now 942. Only 4400 tests have been carried out in a country of 40 million. Therefore the true coronavirus figure is perhaps much higher. On April 3 a new regulation forbade people from going outside without a mask and in groups of more than 2. There are roadblocks in many cities to prevent unnecessary travel. On March 31 Health Minister Ilya Emets was fired after only a month en poste. His successor is Maksim Stepanov. It seems Zelensky was lashing out by firing Emets for his poor response to coronavirus. There are 1880 ventilators in Ukraine. This is double the number of coronavirus cases but many ventilators are needed for other disease.
