Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy

On June 2 two oil and gas facilities in western Russia were attacked by drones. The Governor of Smolensk Region, where the attacks took place, commented on the attacks. The region has not been previously targeted. It was claimed there were no injuries. Ukraine has neither confirmed nor denied that it is behind the attacks. Ukraine appears to be engaging in shaping operations ahead of its much anticipated summer offensive. Ukraine's strategy seems to be to hit Russian energy infrastructure to hurt the economy. The enemy facilities targeted supply oil and gas to Belarus. It might make Belarus reluctant to allow Russia to attack Ukraine via Belarus again. On the other hand Ukraine might push Belarus closer to Russia if the Belarusians believe that the only way to secure themselves is to defeat Ukraine.  On June 2 the Governor of Kursk Region claimed that several Ukrainian drones had been shot down there. Some buildings were damaged. Villages in Bryansk have been shelled and there were explosions in Kaluga. The attacks give lie to Putin's claim that the war will make Russia safer. On the other hand Ukraine seems to be proving Putin's narrative that Ukraine is a threat.
