Uncertainty about the Battle of Kherson

On November 4 Putin said that the civilians still in Kherson are being evacuated. He spoke about the shelling and the intensifying fighting.  Putin said that 49,000 of the 318,000 mobilized reservists who were called up in September 2022 have been sent to Ukraine. Open media sources have confirmed that over 100 of them have been killed. Pro-Moscow Telegram channels on November 3 showed that the Russian Flag over Kherson's Administration building has been lowered. Some took this as a sign of Russian retreat. The deputy head of the pro-Russian administration in Kherson said troops might evacuate east of the Dnipro River in the nest few days. Ukraine is skeptical. This might be disinformation. Urban battles are notoriously difficult and bloody. Ukraine is wray that Russia is trying to draw it into a trap. Ukrainian media said that Russian soldiers have donned civilian garb and are in civilian houses to ambush Ukrainian troops. The US said the main battle for Kherson will be in mid-November 2022. After that the weather will be so cold that serious advances will be impossible until February 2023.
