Unemployment lines at the INSS are challenging for the government

The increase in unemployment lines and the accumulation of lawsuits at the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), a consequence of specialty doctors who refuse to return to in-person work, are putting pressure on the government in the social arena. Today, the Institute of Brazilian Geography and Statistics (IBGE) revealed that the unemployment rate increased once again in the fourth week of August in comparison to the previous week.

Another problem in the social arena is the existence of more than 1.5 million cases waiting for assistance from the INSS. At least half of these (50.4%) require in-person assistance. The lines at the INSS are another problem that needs to be solved by the Ministry of the Economy, as they are wearing on the government’s image in the social sector.
