US Secretary of State visits Kyiv

On April 24 Anthony Blinken and the US Secretary of Defense visited Zelensky. The US renewed its pledge of unstinting support and said that Ukraine can win if given the right weapons. The US said that its goal is to enfeeble Russia that Russia cannot threaten Eastern Europe again. The US said it was too dangerous for Biden to visit. The US and UK are reopening their embassies in Kyiv.Ukraine said that its soldiers in Mariupol were close to collapse. Russia says it has offered a humanitarian corridor for civilians to leave the city. Ukraine says this is a lie. The UN called for a truce in the city.Kyiv pleaded for more offensive weapons. The US now seems unconcerned at Russian responses to more arms shipments to Ukraine. The US has donated USD 3 billion of arms in 2022. The UK is the second biggest donor. Russia is launching regular missiles strikes on Western Ukraine but these are not inflicting significant casualties.
