On August 7 the Justice Department issued a civil forfeiture complaint against realty belonging to Ihor Kolomoisky. The aim is to confiscate his real estate without compensation. Kolomoisky owns property in Texas and Kentucky through a company of his. The civil complaint claims that Kolomoisky and Hennadiy Boholyubov stole billions of USD through PrivatBank which they once owned. Their alleged modus operandi was to have loans made out to companies owned by two men themselves. The beneficiary of the loans was disguised. The two Ukrainians repaid virtually nothing. What they did repay was financed by borrowing more from PrivatBank. Instead the two laundered the money into the United States. They were abetted in this by two American named Uriel Laber and Mordechai Korf. They purchased offices, steel plants and alloy plants. On August 5 the FBI searched the office of Kolomoisky in Florida and Ohio. The billionaire still owns energy and metals interests in Ukraine. He is a billionaire. Kolomoisky vehemently denies the accusations. He claims that his purchases in the United States were financed from profits made through his dealings with Evraz. In 2016 Ukraine nationalized PrivatBank because there was a USD 5.5 billion hole in its finances. The two Ukrainians owned US property through companies registered in Delware under the group name Optima. Delaware is the easiest state in which to register a company. It is also Joe Biden's state. The two men own the CompuCom HQ in Texas. It is claimed that they bought it with USD 15 million from PrivatBank. The FBI is keen to confiscate this property.Kolomoisky's media empire in Ukraine propelled Zelensky to victory in 2019.
