Uzbekistan-to-China road opens

On January 10 the first TIR (Transports Internationaux Routiers or International Road Transport) truck departed from China to Tashkent, Uzbekistan carrying electrical goods. It is a 6,500 km journey. The route goes via Kyrgyzstan. The journey should take 7 days. Before the new road opened it usually took 20 days to reach Uzbekistan via a TIR route. The World Transport Organization hailed the development. TIR is an international customs convention to streamline transporting goods across borders. In 2023 China opened a TIR route to Kazakhstan. China is extending its influence in China Asia. It has been Kazakhstan's main trade partner for over 10 years.
