Wagner leader says Bakhmut will not fall until March

On February 16 the head of the private military company said that the city will not be taken until March or even April 2023. Yevgeny Prigozhin posted these comments online and blamed the Russian Army for this saying it is too bureaucratic. He added that it is necessary to cut supply routes to the city before it can be stormed. Bakhmut is the longest battle in the war and has raged for months already. If Russia takes the city it will find a heap of rubble. Wagner Group has recruited men from prisons to fight. In exchange for 6 months of service their sentences are rescinded. In February 2023 he said Wagner will no longer recruit prisoners. Wagner says it has taken ground without help from the Army. There is an unfriendly rivalry between Wagner and the army.
