War intensifies as Ukraine claims to have destroyed warship and Moscow threatens to strike Kyiv

On April 14 Moscow said its Black Sea flagship had been badly damaged by an accidental explosion. Kyiv claims its Neptune missile struck the warship Moskva. Ukraine has been pleading with NATO to supply it with such missiles for weeks. Russia was able to land troops on the Ukrainian coast because the Ukrainian Navy was so much smaller. The warship Moskva is very well equipped so if it is incapacitated that would be a serious blow to Russian maritime operations. On April 13 Russia said it will hit command centers in Kyiv because Ukraine is attacking inside Russia. Ukraine attacked an oil and railroad depot. Russia uses trains to transport troops and munitions.Russian regions adjacent to Ukraine have raised their terrorist threat level to critical, citing the risk of cross-border raids by Ukraine.On April 13 Russia claimed that Ukrainian soldiers in the besieged city of Mariupol are surrendering in droves. That has not been confirmed.
