The bulk of it is a refresher on Erdogan’s candidacy status -- and how this relates to early elections. In a nutshell, the author claims that Erdogan needs to bargain with CHP leader Ozel for early elections, if he wants to be eligible for presidency for a third time. The rather modest analytical essay of the politics section predicts that this fortnight is the “do or die” time for Minister Simsek’s Economic Stabilization Program. Erdogan needs to stand firm on the Tax Package and against the rebellion in his ranks for more pay hikes for retirees. Will he say, “no pain, no gain” or “no pain, no pain”?
