President Zelenskiy called for emergency parliament session on Wednesday, March 4, according to the President Office. Everyone is talking about Honcharuk's Cabinet dismissal. Multiple rumors are around. Last week, the media discussed Sergey Tigipko, an ex-official of the Viktor Yanukovytch presidency as potential candidate to replace Honcharuk. But journalists also report that Tigipko is not the only person on the list, and the name of the new premier is not defined. The reason Zelenskiy is seeking a new premier is quite obvious, Honcharuk proved to be "green" for that high position and his disrespectful words about Zelenskiy were the last straw for the president, we believe. But some journalists wrote that fresh conflict between president and premier has emerged recently. Allegedly Honcharuk did something against the will of oligarch Igor Kolomoyskiy (appointments of management of state companies), Zelenskiy criticized him for tha,t and Honcharuk decided to resign in response. Though resignation of the Cabinet looks indeed very likely, the version of the events with Honcharuk playing role of a principled person sounds implausible. Honcharuk used to be a very ‘flexible’ and accommodative person, and the story that he is resigning because of Kolomoyskiy - it might be a face-saving legend for him. Friendly media might be helping Honcharuk with promotion of this story. In any case the name of new premier we likely will learn only on Wednesday.
