Zelenskiy Reports First 10 Steps at the Presidential Post

Media released a list of first 10 steps Volodymyr Zelenskiy plans to deliver immediately after becoming the president. It’s a first reasonable message Ukrainian voters received from the presidential candidate. Names of potential candidates for the position of General Prosecutor and the Head of the SBU sound interesting (if eventually confirmed). Zelenskiy plans to invite the United Kingdom and the USA to negotiation process under the Normand format on the war at the eastern Ukraine. He rejects possibility to have negotiations with representatives of Russian proxies. Also media report intention to exclude Viktor Medvedchuk, crony of Vladimir Putin, from the negotiation process on eastern Donbas. Viktor Medvedchuk is seen as ‘gray cardinal’ of political process in Ukraine with substantial influence on many players. Zelenskiy plans to remove competition between Ministry of Defense and General Staff of the army. No details on that were reported.However, to the best of our knowledge Ministry of Defense is stuffed with old soviet generals who in many cases are pro-Russian and oppose effective action of the army. Most likely, Zelesnkiy team declares intention to address this specific problem. Zelenskiy plans to appoint clean judges for anti-corruption court which was recently established. Judges have been already pre-selected by a commission with international experts and Zelesnkiy claimed the results of pre-selection are trustworthy. Zelenskiy will submit to the parliament a draft law on mediation.Zelenskiy plans to submit to the parliament draft law on tax amnesty, draft law on tax on withdrawn capital, draft law on financial intelligence service.
