Zelensky visits eastern front and admits situation is very difficult

On May 29 the Ukrainian President went to Ukraine's second city Kharkiv. It is only 40 km from Russia. However, the city is no longer under ground attack. Zelensky dimissed Kharkiv's security chief. The president said the man had not run the defense of the city well in February 2022. On May 29 the president shall address the EU leaders by videolink at an emergency summit. He will urge them to stop all imports from Russia. The EU is discussing phasing out Russian oil imports by the end of 2022 but some EU states are totally opposed to this. Hungary needs Russian oil, and the Druzhba Pipeline passes through Hungary. Hungary wants 4 years and EUR 860 million to switch away from Russian oil. Hungary might be given an exemption. Russian oil brought by tanker might be barred. Russia is making steady progress in Donbas. It took a vital town of Lyman which is a rail hub. Zelensky said Ukraine would defend itself to the last man. Severodonetsk is under constant attack. It is surprising it has not fallen already. Two-thirds of its building have been destroyed. Ukraine is pleading for long range artillery and rocket systems. Some of this is on the way but it takes time to train Ukrainians on it. However, Germany is proving hesitant about providing weapons. Russia says it is using long-range precision missiles. It is trying to destroy munitions depots, air defense systems and radar stations.
