Global Source Partners’ Uruguay Country Analyst Esteban Medrano is a leading authority on Uruguay and Argentina’s macro and market dynamics. Over a career in government and in the private sector he has developed a reputation for his incisive macroeconomic analysis and his in-depth knowledge of both countries’ sectoral dynamics.
Based in Buenos Aires, Mr. Medrano is also a partner of the independent consulting firm MacroVision Consulting. He was a senior advisor to Argentina’s Ministry of Economy, providing macroeconomic and policy analysis to the ministry. Furthermore, he provided macroeconomic and financial analysis for Argentina, Uruguay and Chile at the New York offices of IDEAglobal. In addition to his work at MacroVision, he consulted for foundations that promote dialog and business opportunities in the energy, biotech, information technology and agribusiness fields. His work comprised leading diverse project analyses in the sector of alternative energy in Uruguay, including research field trips in the country, where he deepened and enriched his knowledge of Uruguay’s economy and politics.
Mr. Medrano holds a B.S. in economics with a specialty in international economics from the University of Buenos Aires, where he was an assistant lecturer in the courses of Statistics and Comparative Economic Systems. He also holds a post-grad from the Kiel Institute of World Economics, in Germany, attending the Advanced Studies Program in International Economic Policy Research, where he was granted, a merit based, full-scholarship.
